The Pony Club NAF Regional Championships Qualifying Story Competition
The Pony Club NAF Regional Championships are the culmination of countless hours of hard work, dedication, partnership and passion, with five finals taking place in the summer across the nation. To highlight such an achievement in qualifying, we share the story of Scunthorpe & District Pony Club Member, Frankie-Lee Mason and their horse, Finlay.
‘This year has been the best year I’ve ever had with my horse, Finlay. I’ve had him for less than a year, and together we’ve achieved things I never thought were possible.’
‘Before this season, I had never competed in an event. Eventing always looked exciting but also quite scary! With lots of support from my family, instructors and The Pony Club, I decided to give it a go.’
‘Our first event was one I’ll never forget. Finlay was amazing and gave me so much confidence. We scored 67.7% in the Dressage, had just one pole down in the Show Jumping, and then jumped a clear Cross-Country inside the optimum time. We finished 3rd individually and my Scunthorpe & District Pony Club team finished 2nd, which meant we qualified for the NAF Regional Championships!’
‘Earlier this year, we also qualified for the NAF Regional Dressage Championships, and we’ve also qualified for Eland Lodge, so it’s been an incredible season for us.’
‘The biggest thing I’ve learned is how important it is to trust your horse. Finlay has taught me so much in such a short time, and every competition has helped us become a stronger partnership.’
‘I feel so lucky to have a horse like Finlay and to be part of such a supportive Pony Club Branch. I can’t wait to compete at the NAF Regional Championships and make even more memories together.’
