Pony Club International Alliance

In 1980 the Pony Club International Alliance (PCIA) was formed to bring independent Pony Club organisations together and is now an association of the following Pony Clubs:

  • UK Pony Club
  • Pony Club Australia
  • Pony Club New Zealand
  • Pony Club South Africa
  • Pony Club Hong Kong
  • US Pony Club
  • Canadian Pony Club

In 2018, The Pony Club hosted representatives from all the PCIA countries and a new determination to develop a global identity for the Pony Club emerged.

Many Pony Club Activities hold International Exchanges with countries within the PCIA, including Tetrathlon, Mounted Games, Quiz and Hunting. There are also virtual Show Jumping and Dressage Competitions. All Pony Club Tests from E-A are also compatible across the PCIA making access for members internationally, equal and accessible for all.

Mounted Games International Exchange

The Mounted Games International Exchange offers Pony Club members from all corners of the globe the chance to immerse themselves in other countries’ equestrian cultures through participation in Mounted Games competitions, cultural excursions, and social events. Each year, the Pony Club International Alliance (PCIA) meets to decide the hosting nation. Outstanding members who have been actively involved in the Mounted Games can be nominated by their DCs and potentially selected by the panel to represent Great Britain in the current year’s team. During the exchange, participants will be required to ride different horses and ponies. It’s crucial that nominated members are versatile riders and can quickly adapt to riding different horses.

Nomination Criteria:

  • Members must have attained their C+ test by the time of nomination.
  • Submit a confidential character reference from District Commissioners and Centre Proprietors along with the nomination. Detail is requested to provide the selection panel with a clear understanding of the member’s character.
  • Include a copy of Branch/Centre Programmes, clearly indicating the rallies and events attended by the nominated member, including virtual events if applicable.
  • Limitation of one nomination per Branch or Centre for the International Exchange.
  • Requirement for members to have reached their 16th birthday in the year of the exchange.
