The Summer of Competition
The JCB Pony Club Championships started on August 13th and even though it was a Friday it certainly wasn’t a day of bad luck. The whole event was a spectacle of the amazing sports our Members have the opportunity to compete in. Tetrathlon, Mounted Games, Polocrosse, Show Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Polo competitors came together to show everyone their passion and skill for their sport. Every day was jam packed with excitement, thrills and spills and a few tears, but all in the name of achieving dreams. It was a joy to be able to meet everyone face to face and speak to so many inspirational riders and meet their wonderful horses and ponies. Offchurch Bury offered the perfect venue, with LandS Eventing supporting the running of the whole event. With the sponsorship of JCB and amazing prizes offered we truly had a great Championships!
The PC110 Eventing Championship held at Wellington International Horse Trials was also a great triumph. As the eventing calendar kept changing around the country, we worked tirelessly to find a venue that could support our keen event riders. Our Members were welcomed and supported throughout the competition and it was a true partnership that made this event work. We are very grateful to David Sheerin and team, who made it all possible.
We also had the Regional Championships taking place around the country, showing off the talent of our upcoming competitive riders. We know if our CEO Marcus Capel could split himself into many pieces, he would have attended all competitions. Every combination displayed their hard work, effort and enjoyment for being back out and competing. Congratulations to each and every one of our Branch and Centre Members who took part. It was fantastic to see Centre Members back out competing and proving extremely successful!
If you are a Tetrathlon competitor looking for your Postal Shoot results from this summer’s activities they are now available online here.
We hope you enjoyed the social media coverage of all the events, we will continue to share stories we gathered from our amazing Members, so make sure you follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
Pony Club Camps
We know there are many Members who don’t ride or are perhaps not competitive riders and for them Pony Club Camp is often the highlight of the year! We have seen some extraordinary camps taking place this summer. The smiles and laughter captured on camera shows why they are so important.
Time to be independent, camping outside in the fresh air, surrounded by friends with their horses and ponies. We can't think of a better way to spend a summer making great memories and developing our horsemanship skills.
We would love to hear your camp stories and see pictures so please do share them by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

Young Evaluators will:

Applications for the Young Evaluators Panel are currently open and they are looking for:

Joint Helicopter Command – Help us to protect you
The Joint Helicopter Command operate multiple military helicopter types. They often fly at very low levels above the ground, at speed, as part of operationally essential training and tasking.
Equine events that have been pre-notified to the Low Fly Tactical Plans Cell are captured on a NOTAM which is a distribution system to all military airspace users. This mandates crews to avoid the area by an appropriate margin.
At all other times our crews operate a "see and avoid" policy. This means if they spot an event that has not been captured on a NOTAM they will do their very best to avoid it, by as much as they safely can, IF and WHEN they spot it.
In order to help them to protect us, event organisers are encouraged to provide the following details at least a week in advance to SWK-MAMCLFTP@mod.gov.uk
- Date of event
- Timings of Event
- Exact location of event – including a grid reference
This will allow a NOTAM to be raised so that our crews know where to avoid which significantly reduces the likelihood of alarming a horse with our operations. Here is a leaflet you can print out and share to raise awareness and reduce the risk of accidents.
