The Pony Club Announce Permanent CEO
The Pony Club announces after a full and consultative process with the Trustees and Company Members, Marcus Capel has been appointed as permanent Chief Executive Officer of The Pony Club.
Marcus Capel stepped into the role of interim CEO just over a year ago to bring a sense of stability and direction to The Pony Club. During this time, a positive impact has been felt across the charity. Marcus has increased transparency and support to the remarkable team of volunteers in Branches and Centre Proprietors.
Marcus has a long history with The Pony Club as a long-standing volunteer of 30 years and National Chairman of Mounted Games. He brings his experience as a 2* Event Rider and a former Executive Headteacher. A powerful combination of skills to enable a deep understanding of the equestrian sporting community and the ability to connect with our young people.
Marcus said: “I am very honoured to be the Chief Executive of such an amazing organisation. I am passionate about horses and education and The Pony Club has been an important part of our family’s life for many years. I am glad to be able to build on the changes introduced by my predecessors. Last year we focussed on our Governance and early this year were able to strengthen our Board of Trustees with some excellent appointments.
With all the challenges we have been through this year with a global pandemic, we have continued to work hard and develop our strategic direction. Our fantastic staff and volunteers have enabled our members to enjoy a wide range of training and competitive activities throughout this year. I am very much looking forward to developing all the things we offer and working with our Branches and Centres to support our Members.”
The Pony Club looks forward to evolving its heritage to focus on making a real difference in the equestrian world. With the vision to provide children and young people with the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of horses through Fun, Friendship, Horsemanship and Sport.
