United Pack Branch of the Pony Club
D.C. Lynn Townsend 01694 722667
Sec Heather Stanford 01584 841513 Treasurer Iola Jones 01584 876118
The Branch has had a host of activities over the last two months, often two or three activities in a week, which is why I presume that many of you have forgotten to pay the balance of your camp money. The cost is a deposit of £25, with the balance paid by 1st June. Main camp participants now owe £150, and Bow House Camp £50.
Please send your cheque by return. I also need the date when you last wormed your pony and the name of the product used. There are a few vacancies at the Bow House camp, and two more can be accommodated at the main camp, providing their ponies can be turned out, telephone D.C. for details.
Camp meetings [important] are on Wednesday 2nd July at Bow House
6.30pm for parents of members going to Tack Farm
7.30pm for parents of members going to Bow House.
Parents at the first meeting, please give some thought to sleeping arrangements beforehand; decide if you want to tow a caravan that far or if a tent will suffice; no more than four allowed to share; who should be together; could they sleep in a lorry or trailer? The two old pony club caravans are available, if anyone wants to tow them. There is a dormitory available for the girls at an extra charge of £40 per head! I would like some volunteers to leave trailers on site for storage of hay, etc.
Anyone who has outgrown riding gear is welcome to bring it to the meeting, please mark with name and price. Ties and sweatshirts will be on sale. Any member requiring a jacket should contact Sally Williams in advance as they have to be personalised, tel 01584 861696.
This year those taking B Test are having some top class instruction at camp; I hope they are keeping up to date with their training and booking into the area training as appropriate.
The dressage competition at Bow House was well supported, thirty three members participated and the majority were well turned out and a credit to the branch.

Next time we will need more help in order to run more efficiently.
Mounted games participants have been travelling all over the place to compete,
thanks to their trainers Lindsey and Barry Cartwright. All the mounted games teams, Seniors, Senior novice, Juniors and Junior novice all show signs of becoming teams that other Pony Club teams will consider as threats. Whilst our ponies are not the fastest, the riders are gaining confidence and skills in hand overs and general handling of the equipment.
The Area Competition showed that the United Pack Teams are major competitors and many congratulations to the junior team who will be representing us at the Zone competition, we wish them every success.
Our own friendly competition went very well and was the first appearance of our own loudspeaker system. It was a long, hot day for everyone helping to run the event. Thanks very much to those parents involved whose efforts made the day the success that it was.
With the increasing popularity of Mounted Games, team places are not automatic and we will be submitting teams based on the members ability and attendance at training sessions.
It is with regret that the Senior team are losing Jemma Goodwin this year, who, although she has only been competing in games for two years, has been a consistent and enthusiastic member of the Senior Team. Many thanks Jemma and good luck. [There is room for her in the polocrosse team, D.C.]
I am now making the entries for the Area Dressage Competition at the West Mid Showground on Tuesday 29th July. Those selected for the intermediate class are Kate Aspinwall and Lucy Moss, who will ride the Novice Championship Test 2005,
Those chosen for the Novice Test 2004 are Lucy Bright, Emma Clarke, Beccy Clarke, Sarah McMillan, Abi Bloor, and Posy Mehta. We need two more volunteers,
Can I persuade either Zoë Hone, Lucy Davies, Jess Bright, Stephanie Radford, Suzie or Olivia Ireland? It would be a good idea if you can come to Wednesday evenings on a regular basis and/or to Nicola Fitter on a Saturday [see programme].
The Area Show Jumping selections for the novice [90cm/211] are Sarah McMillan, Lucy Bright, Jan Ashley, Lucy Davies, Emma Clarke, Abi Bloor, Nicola Weinberg, Savannah I Anson, with reserve Jake Taylor. Will these members make an effort to compete at Bowhouse on one of the Tuesday night sessions in preparation for the area competition on Sunday 3rd August at Berriewood.
I have been asked to remind you all, about Bishops Castle Show on Saturday 26th July. The schedule can be downloaded from www.bishopscastleshow.co.uk
The enhanced programme for August is enclosed and also the provisional one for September. As fuel is now so expensive, would parents prefer that we reduce the number of activities or shall we continue as before and reconsider later?
Sally McMillan would like more names for the coach trip to Olympia at Christmas, when the price is confirmed, she will be collecting a deposit from you.
Dont forget to monitor your ponys grass intake, check that he has plenty of water, and be liberal with the fly spray.
