Southdown Hunt (East) Activities

There are individual and inter-branch team competitions throughout the season. Show jumping takes place in the winter as well as the summer, and mounted games are held in the spring months leading up to the Area Competition in late April or May. This Branch holds winter dressage competitions at Plumpton College between October and March. These are open to everyone (including adults) and cover very novice tests as well as the more advanced. If you are not sure whether you are good enough to take part in a team or even whether you would enjoy it, your best plan is to ring the organiser and talk it over with her. Come to a competition or a training session as a spectator and you will get an idea of the standard. Then you can decide whether to join a training squad or not. All the organisers listed will be pleased to help you.

You will be asked to contribute towards the training and venue costs. Once you embark on a course of training, you will be expected to pay your share, even if you cannot come every time. The instructor’s fee and hire charges do not change however many in the class. Most classes consist of five or six riders.
