High Scores at Pony Club Christmas Shoot

Over 70 Pony Club members and parents from 7 branches travelled to Ballymoney on Sunday 2^nd January for the 2^nd Annual Christmas Shoot organised by the Route Hunt Branch of the Pony Club. Competitors in all classes were allowed 5 practise shots and 10 competitive targets-maximum score possible 1000 points.

Although this was an occasion for young tetrathletes and their families to get together socially at the beginning of the new season, the competitive edge ensured a high standard of scoring throughout. A mini indoor tetrathlon comprising games of skill was organised and enjoyed, as were the refreshments (particularly the Irish stew) and the large blow heaters!

The Route Hunt D.C. Sean Laverty thanked everyone for participating so enthusiastically and Joey Erwin along with the committee for their help in organising the event. It was felt appropriate that the proceeds of the mini tetrathlon should be given to the Asian Earthquake Appeal.

The highlight of the event was the Parent and Child competition. 26 pairs took part with the Perpetual Trophy travelling to North Down this year with Ian Hamill and his daughter Megan. The Larkin family had a worthwhile journey from East Down. Neil was Best Senior Boy with 960, and his sister Julianne shared the honour of Best Senior Girl with Megan Hamill (920). Stephen Richardson for Iveagh was Best Junior boy (680) and Lucy Cosby from North Down gained the title Best Junior Girl with 960. Kerri Hill from East Down won Minimus with 940. Best Dad was Ian Hamill, and Best Mum was Esther Harper from the Route with 960. The best score of the day was by a past Route member, Paul Traynor with 980 points.
