You are in: Branches / Route Hunt

The Route Hunt Branch was established in 1958 and is part of Pony Club Area 17.
Our branch has on average between 70-80 members aged from 4 yrs up to 24yrs! We run a full and varied programme throughout the year based around the working rally which is the backbone of any branch. Mounted and unmounted instruction is offered at working rallies.and at junior rallies. Junior rallies are open to our younger members and to new members of any age who may not yet be very experienced in riding.
At various times throughout the year we offer more specialized instruction in Dressage, Show jumping, Cross Country,Games and Tetrathlon (training in shooting , running and swimming) which will help all members advance their knowledge in these disciplines and prepare them for area competitions if they are selected.

Area 17 Tetrathlon at the Beeches

On Friday the 17th a small but very determined band of tetrathletes travelled to Ballyclare to take part in the first day of competition for the Area 17 Tetrathlon. Rosie, Jamie and Joe took part in the shooting in the morning and then joined our intrepid band of fledglings for the swimming in Larne Leisure Centre.Joe and Jamie both recorded personal bests in the shooting and swimming, Joe with a score of 960 out of 1000 in the shooting was in first place in the Junior boys, and Rosie, despite injuring her hand in the swimming, was in second place in the Open girls. Our fledglings had a great swim with Jessica achieving 4 lengths!
On Saturday we all travelled in the rain to the Beeches but the sun soon came out for the Cross Country. The Fledglings had a lovely purpose built course of their own and Aoife and Niamh both recorded clears and with Jessica and Crystal taking the team into 4th place. Rosie maintained her second place and Joe was holding onto first. The last event was the dreaded running. Jamie was the star here running 1500m in 6 minutes to gain 900 pts! and to get 2nd place in the running event. The fledglings ran their little socks off but slipped one place down to 5th.
