THE ELMS MINI TETRATHLON/TRIATHLON

Once again we took a group of members to take part in the Elms School competition. Nia and Sara Jones did the triathlon and came 4th and 5th respectively. Their sister Ffion did the tetrathlon HC and did very well - especially as this was her first attempt at cross country competition. Ffion  Samuels took part for the second year and this time completed the cross country course unaided - well done! Molly and Poppy Loveland - our youngest members took part for the first time and also did very well.

POLO CROSSE WEEKEND, USK - MAY.

Three of our members, Emily and Samantha Barker,  and Anna Raven took part in a polo crosse training weekend at Usk in May. Great fun was had by all.

PONY RACING

We only have one member who takes part in pony club racing - but Charlotte Pritchard does us proud! At Cheltenham Race Course in April Charlotte came 2nd riding her pony Flanders Fields. Well done Charlotte.

Congratulations to:

COMPETITION RESULTS 2008

SUNNYBANK TEAM SHOWJUMPING - 27 MARCH 2008

We sent 5 teams throughout the day to compete in various classes. We had a team entered into every class from 1’6’’ to 2’6’’. Many of our younger members were representing our club for the first time, for many in the first class this was their first taste of a competition!

We were placed in every class! Well done to every one who competed, and represented us at this competition. This was also the first competition where we used our new Pentyrch Pony Club numnah’s – so we looked very smart! The money to buy the numnah’s was kindly donated by Grandma Jones!

The results were as follows:

Class 1 (1’6’’) – the Pentyrch Piglets consisting of Catrin, Ffion and Emily M came 2nd.

Class 2 (1’9’’) – the Pentyrch Puppies won the class! The team consisted of Harriet, Seren, Catrin and Charlotte.

Class 3 (2’) – the Pentyrch Panda’s were placed 2nd, and the team consisted of Seren, Harriet, Samantha and Charlotte.

Class 4 (2’3’’) – the Pentyrch Pink Ladies, consisting of Harriet, Charlotte, Sarah and Emily B were placed 5th.

Class 5 (2’6’’) –  the Pentyrch Pantha’s were placed 6th and the team consisted of Sarah, Charlotte, Harriet, and Coral (who stepped in at the last moment to enable the team to compete).

PONY CLUB DENGIE SHOW JUMPING

This year three of our members qualified for the Area 10 regional finals of the Dengie Winter League Show Jumping – Becky Peters, Abby Peters and Jessica Jones.

Both Abby and Becky went on to compete at the regional finals held at Sunnybank Equestrian Centre. Both girls did well, and Becky was placed, qualifying for the National Dengie Finals held at Warwickshire College, in March. Becky also won the Open Dengie SJ competition, (on the horse shares with her sister), resulting in another qualification to the Championships. Unfortunately, the rules state that arider can’t compete in both competitions at the Championships – so Becky passed this qualification down the line up.

At the Dengie Championships, after an eventful warm up, (involving paramedics and a very bruised leg), Becky went on to have two fences down over an up to height, and tight twisty course – WELL DONE BECKY.

Pictured below are Abby and Becky - our two Dengie SJ Regional Qualifying members.

BRECON TETRATHLON / TRIATHLON

We had 10 members competing at this competition as both a tetrathlon and triathlon, these members were Oliver, Sophia, Emily C, Emily B, Samantha, Harriet, Tara, Seren, Ffion and Nia.

We had mixed success over the two days, with all members trying their best. Notably, Oliver won best swim and run, and won the overall best junior boy, Sophia was well placed in the swimming and running events, and Emily C also put in exceptional running and swimming scores. Congratulations also go out to Seren who gained 1400 points in her ride over the mini course – the highest score possible for tetrathlon riding. Well done to all who competed as this was the first attempt at Junior level for some of the competitors.
